What is a Mineral Traceability Technology Operator (OTTM)?
A Mineral Traceability Technology Operator (OTTM) is a company authorized by Colombia's National Mining Agency (ANM) to record mineral trading transactions and transmit them to the Mineral Traceability Platform (PTM), under ANM Resolution 759 of 2024.
The Mineral Traceability Platform (PTM) is the ANM system that records mineral purchases, sales, transformations and exports online and checks that what is traded comes from an authorized mining operation. It was established by ANM Resolution 759 of 2024.
Your supplier works in the OTTM and the ANM validates in the PTM. MinTrace is one of the authorized OTTMs.

When choosing an OTTM, check three things:
- That it supports the rollout and trains the team by role.
- That its support team knows mining operations and the regulation.
- That it integrates with the ERP, so nobody records the same thing twice.
When does mineral traceability become mandatory in Colombia?
ANM Resolution 759 of 2024, dated October 28, 2024, established the PTM. ANM Resolution 3824 of 2025, dated December 29, 2025, set the timeline: each type of actor has a voluntary transition, when it can already record transactions, and a date from which recording is mandatory.
For buyers abroad, this means your Colombian suppliers will need an authorized OTTM by their date. MinTrace is one of them.

Which actors in the mining supply chain must record their transactions?
Mineral traders registered in the RUCOM (Colombia's registry of mineral traders), processing plants, mining titleholders and exporters record their transactions in the PTM through an OTTM. This is what each one needs:

International due diligence: the evidence you get
Buyers of Colombian gold and minerals often work under international due diligence frameworks, such as the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas and EU Regulation 2017/821. MinTrace does not certify compliance with those frameworks.
What MinTrace provides is the record your Colombian supplier files with the ANM: the origin document behind each purchase, the transaction acceptance code, a SHA-256 fingerprint on every supporting document and counterparty screening against OFAC and UN sanctions lists. Your compliance team can review it before a sale closes.
How MinTrace works: from supplier to ANM report
Each transaction the PTM accepts gets its transaction acceptance code, and each supporting document carries a SHA-256 fingerprint: the evidence stays linked to the operation that produced it.
- Onboard the supplier: the system checks their RUCOM registration, screens them against restrictive lists and, if enabled, verifies their identity.
- Record the purchase under the applicable method, with the documents the regulation requires.
- Process the mineral in your own or a third-party plant, with losses calculated by the system.
- Sell in the domestic or international market, with currency and exchange rate.
- Report to the ANM at the moment the regulation sets, and keep the acceptance code.

What is an OTTM?
A Mineral Traceability Technology Operator (OTTM) is a company authorized by Colombia's National Mining Agency (ANM) to record mineral trading transactions and transmit them to the Mineral Traceability Platform (PTM). The role is defined in ANM Resolution 759 of 2024, and every record in the PTM goes through an OTTM.

What is the Mineral Traceability Platform (PTM)?
It is the ANM system that records mineral purchases, sales, transformations and exports online and checks in real time that what is traded comes from an authorized mining operation. It was established by ANM Resolution 759 of 2024; the ANM runs it, and authorized OTTMs connect to it on behalf of their users.
What is the difference between the PTM and an OTTM?
The PTM is the ANM's public platform, where transactions are recorded and balances, quotas and actors are validated. The OTTM is the authorized operator that captures each transaction in your operation, generates its documents with a SHA-256 fingerprint and transmits them to the PTM. You work in the OTTM; the ANM validates in the PTM.
When does traceability become mandatory in Colombia?
It depends on the type of actor. Under ANM Resolution 3824 of 2025, the PTM is mandatory for large-scale mining and Projects of National Interest from November 19, 2026; purchases from subsistence miners, January 15, 2027; medium-scale mining, February 18, 2027; and small-scale mining, February 18, 2028.
Do I have to stop using my ERP?
No. MinTrace integrates with the systems you already use through a documented REST API. If your company runs SAP, MinTrace On SAP connects S/4HANA and ECC through a connector certified by its manufacturer, with no custom development and no changes to the ERP core. Your team keeps recording where it works today.
Which minerals does MinTrace support?
MinTrace supports 140 minerals, including limestone, clays, nickel and coke, as well as gold, coal and emeralds. Resolution 759 requires every OTTM to have its platform adapted to record transactions for any type of mineral. The full list is available at mintrace.com, in Spanish.
