Smart and Sustainable Cities: Bootcamp Powers Digital Government

Pereira drives digital transformation with the second ‘Bootcamp’ of the High Public Management TIC Program from the Ministry of TIC.

The Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications (MinTIC) continues to strengthen its commitment to public digital transformation in Colombia. This week, the city of Pereira, capital of Risaralda, was the epicenter of the second ‘Bootcamp Potencia Gobierno Digital’, within the framework of the High Public Management TIC Program, which focused on ‘Smart and Sustainable Cities.’ This initiative aims to leverage technology to improve urban management, bridge the digital gap, and promote environmental sustainability.

The event, which took place on October 16 and 17 at the Darío Botero Gómez Convention Center, was attended by the Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation, Belfor García Henao, the Director of Digital Government, William Fernando Oviedo Camargo, and the Deputy Director of Strengthening Digital Public Capacities, Natalia Albañil Riaño. It featured the participation of 125 TIC leaders, including more than 30 mayors and governors from the departments of Antioquia, Caldas, Huila, Quindío, Risaralda, and Tolima.

This is the second of the four ‘Bootcamps Potencia Gobierno Digital (opens in a new tab)’ scheduled. On this occasion, our CEO, Daniel Medina (opens in a new tab), presented several success stories about the impact of artificial intelligence in the sectors of mobility, public safety, and health, with a focus on the territories of Colombia.

The High Public Management TIC Program, developed in collaboration with the Francisco José de Caldas District University, consists of three key components: a virtual diploma structured in five modules, the four in-person ‘Bootcamps Potencia Gobierno Digital (opens in a new tab)’, and the innovation contest ‘Máxima Velocidad (opens in a new tab)‘. Additionally, the program offers masterclasses (opens in a new tab) taught by experts in integrating technologies into the public sector.

At the end of the four bootcamps, it is expected that around 500 public managers will strengthen their competencies and skills in information technologies, with the goal of building inclusive, sustainable, and digitally advanced territories.
